*Stories of resilience*

“I can't tell you what a relief it is to know where to turn to for help, I had no idea all this help was out there. It is so easy to feel stuck when you do not know what to do.”

~From "Katie", who received Community Resource Coaching and Advocacy.

“It only takes one thing, and bam, your stability can be taken right out from under you. I never thought I would be in this situation, I have so much pride. It is a blessing this is here."

~From "Rebecca", who received items from our Pantry with a Purpose Program.

WRC’s therapist has helped me work through a lot, and I have been through some really rough times, with my health, and with my relationships.

I can see that we are making progress.”

~From "Annette" , who is a current client in our Counseling Program.

"When I first left a toxic 13-year relationship, I didn’t have any money of my own. I had two young children: a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old at the time. I was chosen to receive the Womenade grant and it went towards safe, reliable daycare while I worked.

I am forever grateful to the Women's Resource Center."

~From “Loretta", recipient of our Womenade Grant.

"WRC is a great place! My family and I were homeless, and they stepped in and helped so much. Then when we got a place, they gave us a welcome home kit that was amazing and generous. I love all the women at Women's Resource Center and

I am so grateful for their help in my time of need."

~From Mary, recipient of one of our Welcome Home Kits.

"My daughter just started her cycle, and I was worrying about how I could provide the pads she needed, they are so expensive these days. This is a lifesaver.”

~From "Bonnie", who received items from our 24/7 Period Pantry (No Strings Attached).

“ I thought I was going to die in my car, in this heat, and with my medical issues.

I had absolutely nowhere else to go. This literally saved my life.”

~ From "Francine", who received a hotel voucher this summer through our newly launched, "Sandra's Safe Space" Program, which helps to bridge the gap between homelessness and stable housing.

We hope these stories of resilience and courage inspire you to remember Women’s Resource Center this Giving Tuesday and in your year-end giving.

Together, we can create lasting change for the women and families who need it most.

5th Annual Art in the Park Fundraiser Event

We are honored to have Dani Kerr once again providing our live music!

24-year-old Statesville native, Dani Kerr, knows that her voice is the most compelling aspect of her artistry. People often tell her they’re emotionally engaged by its earthy, raspy quality. Recently, Dani was recruited by the producers of ‘America’s Got Talent’ to perform on Season 18. That performance was exciting and a great way for many people to learn about her gift as a singer–songwriter, but it was only one brief milestone on her long and winding journey as a professional musician.

Nourish your Mind:

The Connection Between Gut Health & Mental Health Presented by Fran Paradine

This  enlightening discussion and engaging session was held on July 9, 2024.  Fran explored the fascinating connection between gut health and mental health, and how the state of our gut can significantly impact our mental well-being, providing insights and practical tips for improving both.

Fran Paradine partners with those who are struggling to overcome the mental and emotional roadblocks that keep them from reaching their optimal health. After spending 17 years in the mental health field and 10 years as a small business owner, Fran knows how difficult it can be to create lasting changes.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who also holds a Certification in Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching, Fran understands the emotional aspects connected with the lifestyle choices we make every day. She has counseled hundreds of individuals, mentored many more, and has created a coaching program that addresses all aspects of health to help her clients make sustainable healthy lifestyle changes that are in line with their individual goals.

Fran understands that any change that is to be sustained over time needs to address all areas of our lives. Creating a healthy lifestyle means ensuring that all elements of our lives are in sync with our health goals and are working together to move us toward those goals. Lifestyle changes require a commitment to exploring all aspects of our health and

Fran’s programs are designed to do just that. She believes in the power of compassion and community and knows that true change can only take place within a trusting relationship

INSPIRING WOMEN'S LUNCHEON was held on Tues, July 12, 2022

This was a free luncheon hosted by WRC.  Professor Michele Hewitt (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Crossroads Counseling Center and an adjunct professor of Psychology at Lenoir-Rhyne University) uses her personal experiences as a young, single mother and widow to inspire others to honor the sacred space that is their own while using adversity as fuel for growth. In between providing therapy services and teaching, Michele serves Women’s Resource Center as the facilitator of their emotional support group.
