The Heart of Serving Women

At the heart of Catawba, Burke, Caldwell, and Alexander counties stands the Women’s Resource Center—a sanctuary built on compassion, inclusion, and empowerment. Since its founding in 1986 (and officially launched as a 501(c)(3) in 1987), WRC has consistently walked alongside women through some of life’s most challenging seasons.

A Safe Harbor for Every Woman

WRC is more than a nonprofit—it’s a warm place to land when options seem scarce. Here, every woman is honored and listened to without judgment. Whether facing domestic abuse, financial crisis, unstable housing, or emotional tolls, WRC provides a space to ask, grow, and heal.

Guided by Core Values

Empathy, inclusion, and respect are woven into every interaction. WRC is committed to serving all women—including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, AAPI, and immigrant communities—without exception. Their guiding values—empowerment, compassion, collaboration, inclusion, and accountability—shape both philosophy and practice.

Real Impact, Real Lives

In 2024 alone, WRC reached more than 3,250 women through in‑person, phone, email, or online assistance. They distributed over $44,000 worth of hygiene and cleaning supplies, welcomed 14 previously unhoused families into stable homes, and furnished $6,000 in menstrual hygiene products to address period poverty. Their Womenade grants, counseling services worth nearly $30,000, and hotel vouchers for weather-related emergencies reflect unwavering support for women in crisis.

Stories of Resilience

Voices of gratitude and transformation abound:

“I can’t tell you what a relief it is to know where to turn . . . I had no idea all this help was out there.” —Katie, Community Resource Coaching recipient

“When I first left a toxic 13‑year relationship . . . I am forever grateful to the Women’s Resource Center.” —Loretta, Womenade recipient.

Why It Matters

WRC believes that when women are empowered, the effects ripple outward—nurturing children, strengthening families, and uplifting the community as a whole. By bridging immediate needs with long‑term support, WRC helps women reclaim stability, hope, and a future of their own making.

Whether seeking help, wanting to donate, or simply wanting to learn—they invite you to take part in this journey: a journey of healing, dignity, and flourishing—for every woman who calls this place home.
