At Women’s Resource Center (centrally located in Hickory, NC), we’re here to support women as they work toward stability and self-sufficiency—one step at a time. Whether someone is facing a crisis or just needs help navigating life’s next chapter, we offer personalized support and connect her to trusted local resources. Every woman’s journey is different, and we’re here to walk alongside her with compassion, encouragement, and the tools she needs to move forward with confidence.

Programs that Support Women

Resource Coaching

Resource Coaching

Community Resource Coaching provides women facing major life transitions with compassionate, personalized support and step-by-step planning to connect them with community resources, ongoing case management, and tools for long-term stability.

Group

Mental Health Counseling

WRC provides free, appointment-only, mental health counseling for uninsured and underinsured women throughout the Unifour area through two licensed counselors.

Pantry With A Purpose

Pantry with a Purpose

Women’s Resource Center offers a free pantry with essential hygiene and cleaning items to support women and families facing crisis situations, such as job loss or domestic violence, providing necessities not covered by programs like SNAP or WIC.

Groups for Community

WRC offers a variety of free, confidential groups—including an emotional support group for women, a co‑ed LGBTQIA+ support group, art classes through the Hickory Museum of Art, the Adult Children of Alcoholics 12‑Step group, the WRC Book Club, and the Newcomers Book Club.

Resource Coaching

Womenade

Womenade, WRC’s micro-grant program, provides one-time financial grants of up to $500 to help women across Catawba, Caldwell, Alexander, and Burke counties cover unexpected expenses and regain stability.

No Strings Attached

Women’s Resource Center, located in Hickory, NC, offers No Strings Attached, providing free menstrual and bladder hygiene products to anyone in need—no forms or questions asked—available 24/7 on the WRC’s porch or during office hours.

Sandra's Safe Space

Sandra’s Safe Space is a bridge-gap shelter program through WRC that provides short-term shelter through hotel vouchers for women experiencing homelessness, connecting them with community resources and supportive services to help them move toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Our organization strongly promotes social justice, through our actions and advocacy.
